As beekeepers, we spend a lot of time noticing the seasons.
It's difficult not to.
The bees respond to every change around them. New flowers begin to bloom, forage shifts across the landscape, and the rhythm of the apiary changes once again.
By the time summer arrives, everything feels different.
The days are longer.
The gardens are fuller.
Windows stay open a little later into the evening.
Life naturally moves outdoors.
And just as the landscape changes, so do the scents we enjoy in our homes.
Following the Seasons at Home
Most of us change our habits throughout the year without really thinking about it.
The foods we eat change.
The clothes we wear change.
Even the way we spend our evenings changes.
Scent is often no different.
The heavier scents often associated with winter begin to give way to lighter, fresher aromas that feel more at home during the warmer months.
Summer is a season of open doors, fresh air, garden flowers, and longer evenings.
The scents we surround ourselves with often reflect that.

When choosing our natural scents for our summer collection, we wanted to capture some of those seasonal feelings.

The Connection Between the Apiary and the Home
One of the things we love about beekeeping is how connected it keeps us to the natural world.
The bees follow the season.
The landscape changes.
The forage changes.
And in many ways, our homes change too.
A jar of honey on the breakfast table.
A beeswax candle during a quiet evening.
A wax melt gently scenting a room while the windows are open to the summer air.
Small things perhaps.

When developing our summer collection, we chose to work with essential oils that reflected the season. Fresh citrus notes, soft florals, and fragrances inspired by summer gardens all felt like a natural fit for this time of year.
